Sturt Baseball Club Rego Day- Sunday 29th August 2010

The Sturt Baseball Club Registration Day is next Sunday 29th August 2010 commencing at 11.00 am. Emmsee Sport will be in attendance from 11.30 am for all your sporting needs for the season.

Thank you to the many people who have used our online registration system to register for the forthcoming season!

If you have already registered online and don't need any new sporting gear then there is no need to attend the Registration Day unless you wish to pay your fees which can be done via cash, EFTPOS or cheque.

Baseball SA has strict rules about ensuring that all players are registered before they participate in any game therefore if you are intending playing this forthcoming season, registration is mandatory!

Mildren Masterclass 2010/11

A wonderful opportunity for the pitchers of the Sturt Baseball Club to be taught the nuts and bolts of pitching by Paul Mildren.

Paul has an outstanding baseball background. He has represented his State and country at both Junior and Senior levels and was part of the Florida Marlins organisation for over 6 years. Most recently Paul was the runner up in the prestigious Helms award for the most valuable player in the Australian Baseball League.

This course will be run over the entire summer season and will involve both theoretical sessions and practical sessions implementing what you have learned.

There will be video footage and analysis taken of every participant for them to have visual feedback of their technique.

The course will cover areas such as -

• Mechanics

• Conditioning/Strength

• Game Management

• Stretching/Recovery

• Pregame Preparation

• Nutrition

• Pitcher Fielding

There will be many other facets of pitching covered during the course.

The course will be run at a cost of $250 per participant. There will be an initial meeting in late August to outline the course content and session times. Participants will be notified of this in due course. It is anticipated that there will be two sessions a week in preseason and one per week during the season. All sessions are to be run at the Sturt Baseball Club.

This course will be open to pitchers of all ages.

There are only 15 places available for this wonderful opportunity so make sure you book your place early.

Garry Colmer RIP

It is with regret that I write to inform you of the passing of Garry Colmer on July 28, as reported in today's Advertiser.

Many of you would know Garry due to his association with our club over many years.

Garry is the brother of the late Mark and late Trevor Colmer who were both long standing and highly respected members of our club.

On behalf of the Sturt Baseball Club I would like to extend our sincere sympathy to the Colmer family at this very sad time.

Garry's funeral will be conducted at the Heysen Chapel, Centennial Park on Wednesday August 4th at 1.30 pm. For further details please refer to Saturday's Advertiser.
