2014/15 Player and Member Registrations open!

As the season rapidly approaches it is that time of year where registrations are required for all intending players from T Ball through to Seniors.

This year we are using a two step process where you are first required to register your details and pay insurance to the Australian Baseball Federation (ABF). It is mandatory that all players register and pay their insurance prior to the first game. Baseball SA check player registrations for insurance and games will be forfeited if we have players on the ground who have not paid their insurance! If you registered last year via this method you should have received an email from the ABF advising you of your log in details.

The second step is to register or update your registration details on the Sturt Baseball Club website. If you are new to the club then you need to fill in the New Player/Members Registration Form or existing members and players of Sturt Baseball Club can register for the season via a password protected area of the Sturt website. Once you have these details you can come back to this area at any time during the season to update your details. Click here to gain access to the password. Once you have the password you can log in to this secure area.

For detailed registration information please visit our Registration and Payment Centre.

Given the extensive building works that are being undertaken over winter, I strongly encourage Non Playing Member Registrations at $55 per person to assist the club with badly needed funds to assist in completing the work. You do not need to register on the ABF website for Non Playing membership but simply go to the Sturt Registration and Payment Centre.

Zac Stokes appointed A Grade Coach

The Sturt Baseball Club is pleased to announce Zac Stokes as its new senior coach.

Stokes brings stand-out credentials to the role together with a record of coaching success over the past decade, most recently being last season's Sturt U19 premiership team.

He has broad coaching experience both here and overseas. 2013-2014 also saw Stokes as an assistant coach at the Adelaide Bite.

Sturt Baseball Club President, Phil Robinson said the appointment of Stokes and his new approach represents a strong renewal of the club's baseball program that will drive on-field success.

"We have a new facility being built at Norman Reserve for what we see is a very exciting time at the Sturt Baseball Club", Robinson said.

"We have a coach and coaching panel with impressive credentials, who individually have achieved a high level of success throughout their baseball careers.

"This group will be supported by the Operations Committee who will work closely with the coach and coaching panel with the full support of the Senior and Junior Committees.

The Sturt Baseball Club Committee endorsed the recommendation of Stokes, having been recommended by a selection panel led by Robinson and consisting of experienced coaches and past players.

"We were buoyed by the level of interest in the position having received applications from within Australia and overseas.

"Our clear objective was to get the best person for the job.

"With Stokes we believe we have a solution that enhances Sturt Baseball Club at many levels.

Stokes said he was honoured to be appointed to the senior coach position.

"It's a great opportunity for me having coached many levels of baseball to now have the chance to do it at a senior level", Stokes said.

"Also for this to be at Sturt Baseball Club, the club I have been part of since I was a junior 19 years ago makes it that much more significant.

"The Sturt Baseball Club has a proud history of player development. The club boasts a high number of players that have gone on to represent at state and national level as well as being signed with major league organisations in the USA. We have an enormous depth of experience and talent.

"We have a proud history and I am honoured to lead the club as senior coach.

"With a player group who are all keen to achieve success I've every confidence that we can continue to develop these players to reach their potential, add to the list and along with the support of the club reach the levels we aspire to.

Stokes and his coaching panel now focus on pre-season in preparation for opening day at the newly renovated Norman Reserve on Sunday 12th October.
