Mildren Masterclass bookings open!

After two successful years, the Mildren Masterclass is back again, bigger and better!

This season we have opened up places in the Mildren Masterclass to all players from all parts of South Australia. We have also broadened the skills sessions to include hitting, fielding and baserunning.

This is a wonderful opportunity for players looking to take their game to the next level and be taught by some of the best coaches in South Australia.

Paul has an outstanding baseball background. He has represented his State and country at both Junior and Senior levels and was part of the Florida Marlins organisation for over 6 years. Paul was the runner up in the prestigious Helms award for the most valuable player in the Australian Baseball League in its inaugural season.

This course will be run over the entire summer season and will involve both theoretical sessions and practical sessions implementing what you have learned.

The course will cover areas such as -

  • Pitching - Mechanics, Conditioning/Strength, Game Management, Stretching/Recovery

  • Hitting - Mechanics, situational

  • Fielding - footwork, glovework reading the ball.

  • Baserunning - understanding situations, reading the pitcher

  • Catching - calling a game, working with pitchers, blocking

Paul will be inviting leading specialist coaches and players (such as Tom Brice) to come and offer their knowledge to participants on different skills throughout the course.

The course will be run at a cost of $250 per participant. The course will commence on Monday October 23rd. Paul will outline the course content and session times at this first meeting. It is anticipated that there will be one session a week on a Monday night. We anticipate there will be 6 sessions before Christmas and 6 after. All sessions are to be run at the Sturt Baseball Club.

This course will be open to players aged 13 or over.

There are only 15 places available for this wonderful opportunity so make sure you book your place early.

To book, please email Phil Robinson at president@sturtbaseballclub.org.au to secure your place! First come, first served - so be quick - registrations will close on September 30th.

If you have any queries please contact Paul directly on 0438 884 325

I write to you to remind you that Registration Day is this Sunday 2 September, commencing at 11.00 am at the Club.

Thank you to all those people who have registered online at the Sturt Registration and Payment Centre. I would encourage all of you to register online if you intending playing this season before next Sunday as this helps us enormously with planning for our teams. This year it is a requirement to complete the Baseball SA Registration Form, so please bring this filled in and signed if you are attending registration day.

For senior players who are new to senior ranks and require a playing number please email me at president@sturtbaseballclub.org.au stating your preferred number preferences and I will then liaise with you over the number that is available.

If you have any questions regarding training times or specific information you require about a particular team please visit our website and go to about>people where all relevant contact details for coaches, managers and officials is available.

Changes to Registration Process

From the 2012/13 season Baseball SA require all players to complete a paper Baseball SA Registration Form.. You should download the form and complete it and either post it to the Club or bring it along completed on Registration Day. Baseball SA also provide the option of you paying them directly the insurance fee by marking the relevant section on the Baseball SA Registration Form, however we would prefer that you pay us the insurance fee as per our usual system and we will forward the insurance fees in bulk to Baseball SA. Please also complete our online Registration Form as per usual as all of our team allocation systems have been built around using this online system. These details have now been incorporated on our Registration page for your information.

Sturt Baseball Club Registration Now Open

It is that time of year again where we ask you to register for the forthcoming season.

I notice that a number of you have used our Online Registration area already!

For our existing members you simply need to update your information. If you have forgotten the information required to log in then click here to have information sent to you.

This year we have PayPal available to make online payments easier!

We also have a Registration Day at the Club to be held on Sunday 2 September and we will have Emmsee present from 11.00 am for any baseball equipment you might need for the forthcoming season.

However I would strongly encourage you to register now for the forthcoming season using our online system as this is the quickest way to get registered! It also assists the club greatly in terms of planning number of teams and coaches required.

In terms of Junior structure, Baseball SA this year have changed the age levels to bring them in line with national competition requirements. This is a good move, but please note the change of structure when registering. Youth Divisional teams will be odd years and therefore the following Junior teams will be fielded- Little League (Under 13), and Under 15,17 and 19. Players need to be within the prescribed age range as at 30 April of the respective season.

Appointment of Sturt A Grade Coach

It is with much pleasure that I announce that after an extensive search and recruitment process, Peter Kitchingman has been appointed as the Senior Coach at Sturt for the next two seasons.

Peter has been the A Grade Coach at Southern Districts for the past two seasons. Peter's values in regard to junior development align very closely with our own and in fact Peter was attracted to our club in part because of junior development programme.

Peter is originally from Victoria where as a junior he represented Victoria twice. Peter grew up as a short stop and pitcher.

Peter started playing Division 1 baseball in Victoria with Sunshine Baseball club at the age 16 with the famous John Galloway as his coach.

Since 1997 Peter has held a range of senior coaching appointments in Victoria prior to coming to South Australia.

Please join with me in welcoming Peter and his family to our club.
