Three weeks left to pay for Centenary Dinner!

Just a reminder that the final day to pay for the Centenary Dinner is Friday 17th October 2008 which is only three weeks away!

There is critical information below in relation to the Dinner which I urge you to read!

If you have not already done so visit or Dinner List to make sure your name appears under either your own name or in the Other Names category. If you cannot see your name and you think you are coming to the dinner email Phil Robinson urgently so that the matter can be resolved.

It is each person's responsibility to check their name is on the list and to make sure that their ticket is paid for by Friday 17 October 2008!

As a goodwill gesture, in the week commencing Monday 20th October attempts will be made through Table Captains to obtain payments from those people who have not paid. I must stress this is simply a goodwill gesture and Sturt Baseball Club will take no responsibility if during that week people cannot be contacted.

If you have not paid or cannot be contacted in that week, your name will be removed from the dinner list.

Our Club has to pay the venue in advance so if you do not pay within the times allocated above unfortunately you will not be able to gain admission on the night.

We only have a handful of tickets left for the night, so if you are still thinking of attending then I urge you to book immediately!

Information on how to pay and other details are available on the Centenary Dinner Page.

It is wonderful that the event has been so well supported.

Centenary Dinner Essential Information!

As you all know the social event of the century will be occuring on Saturday 1 November 2008 with our Centenary Dinner to be held at the Adelaide Pavilion. Go to our Centenary Dinner page for full details.

The Sturt Baseball Club wishes to acknowledge the generous support of its sponsors. These sponsors include the Bridgewater Bulls, Ord Minnett, Ace Panel Systems, SuperGuardian, Excel Car Rentals, B&D Roller Door and SIA Sports Images.

Our Club has to pay the venue in mid October for the confirmed number of people attending! There is no possibility of turning up on the night and hoping to buy a ticket!

I am aware that people have used a variety of methods to get a ticket, however there is only one official list!

Please click on this official list to see if your name is listed! If it is not listed then please check with the Table Captain with whom you thought you had organised your seat!

If the Table Captain cannot accommodate you at his table and you are not listed on the official list it is imperative that you register online

Some people have indicated that they want to be on a certain table and in some circumstances this is not possible as the Table is already full and the Table Captain has advised us of his official list for that table. Every effort will be made once numbers are finalised to sit people with an appropriate group if there first preference cannot be accommodated.

If you want to be a Table Captain then email Phil Robinson

Payment prior to Friday 17 October 2008 is essential. You can pay online or send a cheque to:
The Treasurer
Sturt Baseball Club
27 Trevorten Ave
Glenunga 5064

Our committee will follow up for a few days after 17 October 2008, but if you do not respond to our requests your name will be deleted from the final dinner list!

It your responsibility to make sure your name is listed on the official list.

The Sturt Baseball Club takes no responsibility if you do not check the list or make payment by the due date!

I am hoping that you all want to attend this event and as such will make every effort to check the list and make payment as soon as possible!

Expression of Interest: Canteen

The Sturt Baseball Club is a very successful club that caters to a broad range of people from under 10 year olds to those who wish they were. We offer a valuable community service run by volunteers who give tirelessly of their time to help develop our young players and provide a strong club base to older players. But all this costs a lot of money to achieve.

We have four main sources of income, subscriptions, sponsorship, the club bar and the canteen. It is always a challenge trying to find people to run the bar and the canteen. At present, the bar is well run and is ready to go for another year, however the canteen has no one to run it with no likely prospects on the books.

With this in mind, the Sturt Baseball Club is looking for expressions of interest to run the canteen at Norman Reserve on a profit share basis.

The canteen has the opportunity to be open on virtually every Saturday and Sunday during the baseball season, plus some mid week evenings when twighlight games are scheduled.

We are happy to consider any proposals. We need to be able to supply this service to our members and visiting teams, so if you have a good idea that might earn you some money, as well as the club, please contact us. Maybe a retired couple would like some involvement around a friendly club scene, earning some spare spending money, or a charity may wish to run it on a profit share base.

Please give Phil Robinson a call on 0417 806 765 to discuss

Mark Colmer

It is with great sadness I write to alert you to the funeral notice in today’s Advertiser announcing the passing of our former President, Life Member and stalwart of our club for many decades, Mark Colmer.

Mark provided outstanding service to our club over many decades in many different roles. Mark had a deep love for our club and was heavily involved in the planning for our Centenary Celebrations this year.

Mark’s funeral service will be conducted at the Heysen Chapel Centennial Park on Monday July 21, 2008 at 2.30 pm. Refer to today’s Advertiser for further details.

On behalf of the Senior Committee, players and members of our club, I would like to extend our sincere sympathy to Inger, Evelyn and Simon, Ali and the entire Colmer family. Our thoughts are also with Kerryn and the boys on the sad loss of their uncle.

Junior Try Out and Registration Information

Junior Try outs for Little League, Under 14 and Under 16 will be held on 17th, 24th and 31st August 2008. Little league will be at 11.45am with Under 14 and Under 16 to follow at a time to be advised. All sessions will be held at Sturt Baseball Club. Any questions should be directed to our Junior Coordinator, David Lightbody or phone: 0413 976 321.

Under 18s are being dealt with by a separate process by our Senior Coach. Any questions should be directed to Tony Catt or phone: 0412 244 327.

Registrations for the forthcoming season are now open and as in previous years you can register online! If you played last year then you simply need to go to our Registration Section to check the fee you will be required to pay and from this page you can then click on the Password Protected Members Area to update your details.
Players new to our club will need to complete the New Players/Member Registration Form

Please make every effort to Register online as this will help our coaches determine the number of teams that we need to submit to the SABL and assists us with the number of coaches that we will require for the forthcoming season. You do not need to pay at time of registering as at this stage of the year, we are mainly interested in determining numbers. However, as in previous years, a discount applies for fees being paid prior to the first game!

Registration Day is 31st August and this year, as in previous years Registration Day will commence at 11.00 am, however this year we will leave registrations open so that you can register whilst your child is training in the older age groups of Under 14 and Under 16. I will provide updated details about Registration Day closer to the time.
